Leadership Development

I have developed as a leader through my roles as President of Global Medical Brigades and a Millenium Fellow through the United Nations.

Global Medical Brigades

Global Medical Brigades is a student-led service organization at FGCU. As a chapter of the international organization called Global Brigades, our focus is empowering impoverished communities to help bring them out of poverty. We work within Global Brigades' Holistic Model as the first step for these communities, by helping them establish access to sustainable healthcare. As president of the chapter, I am leading a group of 30 + students on a brigade to Panama in May 2022. My executive board and I have been fundraising throughout the year for the brigade to bring medical supplies to our community. We conduct service projects locally in preparation for our service brigade including beach clean-ups, breast cancer walks, and donation drives.

Millennium Fellowship

The Millenium Fellowship is an international network of student leaders through the United Nations. Through the Fellowship, each student develops a project to further a Sustainable Development Goal. I chose to use my role as President of Global Medical Brigades to further Goal #3, Good Health and Well-being. I am creating a health screening clinic in Immokalee called the Immokalee Medical Brigade. The goal of the clinic is to connect community members with Healthcare Networks, a local and affordable healthcare option. In preparation, we learned vital signs such as blood pressure screenings.
